I can tell you for certain that at least one someone enjoyed this and looks forward to part two.

Bethel, I share your fascination (if I can label it that) with the Holland/Peterson/Murray type who seem to on some level recognize their need for Christ but can't bring themselves to consider it as a real option. Perhaps it's fascinating because it is so recognizable - usually in less intellectual terms - in so many people (including, truth be told, in myself at times, in a "help my unbelief" kind of way).

Could I ask if you would recommend 2 or 3 books for the serious general reader about the reliability of the gospels?

Hi Dave, I'm so glad to hear it and hope you enjoy Part 2! A couple great resources to get started with would be Can We Trust the Gospels? by Peter Williams (who I've learned is doing his own discussion of these podcasts, so I'm looking forward to that and plan to share), and my mother's first New Testament work, Hidden in Plain View, which looks specifically at a positive line of evidence called "undesigned coincidences." Here's a short video introduction to what that means, with examples, by a friend who runs a great YouTube channel that distils lots of cool information in bite-sized installments:
