Bethel, I havent read that particular book but there are a few others more current. Are you familiar with David Bennet's book "A War of Loves"? It sound so similar to the one you describe and he is a deep Christian who studied under N.T. Wright but he describes his struggles with homosexuality as a Christian.
I read and reviewed that book a few years ago. I found things to like at the time, but I have concerns about David's trajectory. He seems to embrace a postmodern vocabulary while believing he can somehow "subvert" it, e.g. his whole thesis of "queering the queer." I like Alex's book specifically because it comes from an older era uncluttered by that sort of jargon and thinking.
Excellent. Thanks for making us aware of this book and for your reflections. Alex should have written more about the broken/redeemed life in Christ.
You're very welcome! I often think about where Alex is now and very much hope he was able to find more friends who could come alongside him.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
