Bethel, relatively new subscriber here who has been slowly working my way through your archive.
You're fast becoming my favorite Substacker; you produce amazing work. I decided to upgrade to an annual subscription, figuring that even if I don't get a book, there's no way I'm unsubscribing anyway! Worth every penny and then some.
It might be of minor interest to you that I discovered your Substack because Andrew Sullivan linked to your beautiful essay, "Life, Reconsidered" from The Weekly Dish.
Based on your earlier essays about Sullivan's podcast with Johann Hari, I share many of your views on him. If I read you right, you admire much about Sullivan's writing and intellect, while also recognizing his religious views are an attempt to have it every which way.
It would be just like him to have shared your piece whether he read your criticisms of him or not. I admire that quality in him.
Oh, that's great! I didn't even realize he'd shared it. Just now dug through my archives to find the plug. Glad it netted me a new follower. That's happened a couple times before. You detect correctly that I couldn't disagree more with Andrew on all sorts of things, and I would even go so far as to say he frames much of his rhetoric in a sophistical way. But he's a charming foe, for sure, and as long as he sends me free traffic, I'll take it!

So kind, thank you Dave!
