Fascinating story.

sorry to focus on something un-central, but you mention that you 'scanned and uploaded' his biography to Open Library. I love this idea of giving old books new access. Can i ask how you scanned it?

Thanks for asking, no worries, a totally apt question. I used a CZUR scanner (my dad's, the kind I recommended to Peder), exported in PDF form, then went to my account on archive.org and uploaded the PDF. I worried a little that it might somehow detect the copyright of 1940, which technically could be a barrier even though in this specific case nobody wants to stand in the way of putting the text out there. But nothing happened, so now it's free for you to download and enjoy too!

Excellent thanks. I had a look at them there on Amazon.

I've uploaded a good few things to Archive- all pdf's or small things i scanned. I too am not that worried about copyright.

Can't quite figure how they havent made some sort of ruling for clearly un-cared for works.

Oh well.

How long did the process take you?

It was a careful few hours with the scanner (sometimes it thinks your hand is part of the book and you have to re-do a page), but then really no time to upload it.
